This is a list of the contact information for the Prime Minister and every current Minister in the Conservative Government. I have moved copies of the three main targets to the top of the list, and the rest of the list is alphabetical by last name.
It is very important at this time to convince these people that the NFA is a large, politically important organization. That can best be done by you!!
Please write personal letters (emails are NOT NEARLY as effective) to these people (the three most important are at the top of the list) telling them that YOU have:
Joined the Conservative Party of Canada.
Intend to be very active inside that Party.
Want the government to keep the promises made to the firearms community.
Want the government to deliver on the firearms policies adopted by the Party.
Are considering whether or not we need another Conservative Party if the present
government betrays the policies adopted by its membership and the positions
taken by its leaders during the election
We have given the Conservatives a reasonable period of time, and what are the results?
The long arm registry has been "canceled"--but you will have to get the permission of a bureaucrat every time a rifle or shotgun is transferred, and that transfer will be recorded so that the registry will know where that rifle or shotgun is, and who has it. That is an unacceptable "solution"--designed and drafted by the bureaucrats who are trying to protect their interests, not a rational or reasonable real solution.
At the U.N., the Canadian delegation to the U.N. Small Arms and Light Weapons conference (June-July 2006) stuck to the policies and positions previously taken by the Liberals, refused to help the U. S. with sensible alternatives, and held only one meeting with firearms groups. The delegation, at the meeting, refused to say anything to the firearms groups. They were willing to listen to presentations, but refused to comment on them, and refused to answer ANY questions. They also informed the people who attended that if the National President of the National Firearms Association attended, the meeting would be canceled.
The incredible boondoggle of the [Firearms Act section 12(6)] small handguns is being ignored, and over 400 reference hearings started by angry legal purchasers of those handguns are going forward. There is no excuse for that; that problem can be solved in a day by issuing one simple Order in Council that does not even have to be put before Parliament. That order in Council will automatically solve all problems in this area, and will also cut the costs of operating the firearms control system permanently.
