NEW Postcard Campaign: End The Long Gun Registery

Gun laws do not prevent crime, rather they create new crime.

– Sheldon Clare, National President,
Canada’s National Firearms Association

Canada’s convoluted and failed Gun Control laws have not had the effect of reducing crime, but rather creating a new class of criminal - the nominally law abiding gun owner who runs afoul of bureaucracy and over-regulation.

In order to achieve positive change to our draconian firearms laws, I need your support.

Our opponents are renewing their efforts to seek a ban on handguns and more limits on the ownership of other firearms. In addition, just as the last session of parliament ended, MP Mark Holland, the Liberal Vice Chairman of the bill C-391 long gun committee, using his majority on the committee, made a motion, which passed, to prevent Bill C-391 from being given third reading in the House.  He and the anti-gun organizations are trying to defeat Bill C-391 and continue the expensive and flawed long-arm firearms registration system.  I think you would agree that most of us would support the long-gun registry if it proved to reduce crime. However to date it has cost taxpayers billions of dollars and has failed to reduce crime. Think of what a difference that money would have contributed to reduce and prevent crime, if used for police services, social, and mental health programs.  How many lives and victims would have been spared?

In order to be effective in fighting these anti-gun actions from being successful and continuing to waste billions of dollars on ineffective registration, Canada’s National Firearms Association needs you to do three things.

First:

Take a moment to print, sign and send the postcards below to the leaders of the NDP and the Liberal Parties - postage is free to the House of Commons. Simply fold and seal as indicated.

Second:

Become a member if you are not a member.  If you are a member recruit at least one other person to join Canada’s National Firearms Association to help us continue to be a leading voice for firearms rights, and at the same time you will be entered to WIN a Firearms package valued at almost $1,400.

Third:

Please take a moment and make a donation in support of our legal efforts and advocacy on behalf of yourself and other Canadian firearms owners.

The NFA is Canada’s leading firearms organization supporting legal actions to prevent increased restrictions on the lawful use of firearms. We are fighting for your rights in the courts and legislatures provincially and in Ottawa. Our technical expertise has often stopped bureaucrats and bad legal precedent from creating new regulations to criminalize the behavior and practices of the firearms community of Canada. Do you own a magazine for a semi-automatic, centerfire rifle that has been converted to the legal 5 shot limit, or parts for such a magazine?  This is one of two significant legal battles that the NFA is currently fighting in court, and one that could jeopardize your ownership of that magazine. We are also challenging the RCMP Firearms Centre’s arbitrary reclassification of the status of two firearms to be prohibited. The issue is that if this action goes unchallenged, any firearm could possibly be reclassified without recourse to our elected officials. This is why we need your help once again. We acknowledge your ongoing support, and appreciate your support in the past. Your donation enables us to fight and win cases like this, that attack your right to own and use firearms.

Our advocacy efforts in ending the so-called “long-gun registry” as a first step towards better firearms laws, and our efforts to support hand-loaders and black powder shooters are also taking up many resources. These and other legal actions are expensive, as is the need to travel to meetings to make our voices heard. What many of our members may not realize, is that every dollar they donate to the NFA goes to pay for our ongoing political action in support of your firearms rights. We are a not for profit organization, which consists of non-paid executive members and volunteers from across the country. Your $35 membership goes a long way toward paying our office staff, producing our magazine and pamphlets, but your additional support is critical to continue the important work the NFA is doing on your behalf. In order to be as effective as possible in leading this fight, we need your support.

Your financial support makes it possible for us to exist. Without you we would be hard pressed to fight for these important firearms rights, to provide legal direction, education and youth programs. We are a leader in fighting for your rights, protecting and encouraging our heritage.

Your support and membership application can be made by calling 1-877-818-0393 TODAY, applying/donating on–line or by mailing back your application/donation to The NFA at Box 52183, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6G 2T5.

Thank you for helping win this fight.
